How to clean your headphones and maintain them.

Taking care of your headphones can help extend their lifespan and ensure they continue to provide high-quality sound. Here are a few practical steps to follow.

The cleaning process:

1) Earpads & Headbands.

Generally speaking, clean earpads, headbands and cables regularly with a soft dry microfiber cloth. This is ideal to remove any build-up of dust on your headphones. These parts that touch the skin are also affected by sweat and oils from the skin, along with moisture and humidity from their environment.

If they are dirty, then lightly dampen a cloth with warm water only, and wring out any excess water from the cloth. Then wipe the surfaces gently, (NOTE: The cloth should only be “lightly dampened”, not dripping wet).

If the earpads or headbands are removable, gently remove them and clean them separately. Only place them back onto the headphone when they are dry.

2) Audio Jacks.
Make sure the audio jack is also free from dust or debris by wiping it with a dry cloth.

What to avoid:

1) Sunlight & Heat.
Avoid leaving your headphones in direct sunlight or heat: Prolonged exposure to sunlight, heat, or humidity can damage the internal components and external materials of your headphones.

2) Water & Moisture.
Keep your headphones away from moisture, rain, or sweat (unless they are water-resistant or waterproof). For sports headphones, make sure they are rated for water exposure. If they get wet (such as from sweat or rain), wipe them down with a dry cloth and leave them to air dry naturally, but not in direct heat or sunlight.
